Lucky's Story
Lucky was adopted when he was a puppy and had the good fortune to be very loved and cared for by his human mom. This is evidenced in Lucky's good health and social skills! Unfortunately, the rest of the home was not so happy and there was a long history of domestic abuse going on. That ended when another family member set the house on fire. Lucky and his mom escaped unharmed, but the house was destroyed. Lucky's owner found herself homeless and Lucky had no place to go but Hillsborough County Animal Services. Lucky's owner was devastated at the thought of her dear dog being euthanized, but HCAS would not let that happen! Marti Ryan and the HCAS staff and volunteers worked hard for OVER A MONTH to find a safe place for Lucky to go.
It Takes a Village ... To Save an 80-lb Dog!
Getting Lucky out of HCAS was no small feat! It's not like trying to find space for a teacup poodle! Dogma stepped up to transfer Lucky out of HCAS, Bill Gray from Second Chance Boxer Rescue has Lucky in foster care, Ashlie Burke from Pit Stop Bullies is training Lucky on basic etiquette and leash manners (she also took the FABULOUS pictures!) and Dr. Christy Layton at Timberlane Pet Hospital and Resort is providing Lucky's vet care. We are all working together to make sure Lucky has the best life possible, lands in the best Forever Home possible and has the life every dog deserves!
Lucky the W.H.I.T. Dog
Lucky is what Dogma affectionately calls a W.H.I.T. dog: What the Hell Is That? We think Lucky is a mix of Akita, Black Labrador Retriever, Great Dane and who really knows what else! Whatever the breed combo is, it works! Lucky is 4-years old, he LOVES people and kids and he is VERY dog-friendly. Ashlie Burke from Pit Stop Bullies reports that Lucky is very smart and a good student and is walking brilliantly on a leash after just a couple of sessions. We are currently taking applications on Lucky and if you are interested in applying for him or would like more details, please email All@DogmaRescue.org.
